About Charlotte Jewish Film Festival
To illuminate the Jewish experience through film.
Behind The Scenes:
What’s really remarkable about the 2007 CJFF is that it is a volunteer–run festival. The individuals and organizations who create the festival do so out of a love for Jewish film and a desire to view them with the greater community.
The films shown at the CJFF are hand picked by our film curator. Most of these films are making their debut performance in Charlotte and would not be screened here if not for the Festival.
This year’s varied, touching films will incorporate universal themes. Highlights include the commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day and Israel’s Memorial Day, a celebration of films by and about women, and the hosting of a film screening and discussion for students and parents of the Consolidated High School of Jewish Studies. There’s something for everyone!
The CJFF would not exist if it weren’t for the generosity and support of our sponsors, especially our community sponsors. The Charlotte Chapter of Hadassah created the festival in conjunction with The Light Factory in 2005. The following year, The Levine JCC became a community partner and in 2007, the Arts and Science Council, The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte , Temple Beth El , Temple Israel, and The Consolidated High School for Jewish Studies followed suit.
In 2005, Diamonds Direct became the film festival’s first corporate sponsor. Since then, more than 20 companies, stores and businesses have added their support. Please see our sponsors page for a full listing.
